They begin off loathing each other and after that it shimmies into this sweet kinship that developes into a great deal more. It’s WELL PACED. Everything in this novel has a reason, a reason.
The steam in this book might not be high in quantity but trust me, it is definitely high in quality. Dating-ish is everything you can expect from a book Penny Reid – intelligent, unique, hilarious – and so much more. I simply adored this gem of a book.
The humour and emotion as anyways drew me in and kept me reading. Can’t wait for Kat and Dan’s story. What I love about Penny Reid books; the geeky/nerdy jokes and pop culture references, the imperfections of the characters and the relative normality of the lives of her major characters. I also love the interconnectedness of the tales, you can read about the same characters but from different view points over the course of the series.

But reading this story gives you hope and happiness, which seems to be Penny Reid mission in life, to make people happy or at least smile big for the duration of her book. With this book, Penny Reid goes back to basics; balls to the wall with the corky, funny, smart writing that we all love, her very best if you ask me. Marie has been a victim of online dating in more than one occasion. When she had been ready to finally give up on the concept she goes on one more date, which unfortunately for her ends up being her worst one yet. Turns out the crazy but sexy dude from her date is Greg and Fiona’s neighbor, Matt.

The way he is introduced to this story is so unique. It is almost like he is an alien from another planet….and in many ways after our learning more about him and his life….we begin to understand and get it. Even with this understanding as the story progresses, Mark has much to learn and process… His wanting Marie to see how wonderful she is…which will touch you the most….because even when he makes mistakes…his wanting only good for Marie is pure. It’s probably the latter, so don’t let me discourage you from this super cute, intelligent and adorkable story. Matt Simmons who we have briefly met in the previous books of the Knitting in the City Series happened to be the date of Marie. What he didn’t tell Marie was that there was an explanation for his odd behavior and why they were matched. ➦What if we could eliminate this whole dating nonsense and just, I don’t know, buy a nice companion robot? It sounds like bs but there might be something to it and that’s what the reporter heroine of this book sets out to investigate with a help of one grumpy AI specialist. He doesn’t really want to help her, but nothing that a little blackmail can’t fix.
All the feels, good and bad, were worth it in the end, and the beautiful and amusing epilogue was the icing on this delicious cake. Penny Reid is the USA Today Bestselling Author of the Winston Brothers and Knitting in the City series. Marie is definitely sick of online dating, especially after her latest bad date with a guy named Derek.
I’ve loved every single one of Penny Reid’s books. They’re full of humor and wit, her characters are realistic, and the romance is always warm and sweet. In DATING-ISH, Marie and Matt were amazing.
